Chrysler automakers already have a stake in the hybrid segment with models like the 2019 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid, but they’re not content to let that be the only hybrid across the larger family of vehicles. It was recently announced that the automaker has plans for a Jeep® Renegade Plug-In Hybrid, among others.

The Jeep Renegade Plug-In Hybrid is expected to arrive by 2020, around the same time that a plug-in hybrid Jeep Wrangler is set to release. The first round of pre-production Jeep Renegade PHEVs will start next year at the plant in Italy, which is undergoing modernization efforts to suit upcoming production needs.

The announcement of a hybrid Jeep Renegade coincides with the automaker’s five-year production plan which they announced a few months ago. The plan states that Jeep models with front-wheel drive architecture, which includes the popular 2019 Jeep Cherokee will soon offer a rear-mounted electric motor which drives the rear wheels. By 2022, the company plans to have eight PHEV Jeep models.

Here at Bemidji Chrysler Center, serving near the International Falls and Park Rapids, MN areas, we’re excited to be soon able to offer drivers with more electric and environmentally conscious options.

If you’re wondering how the automaker plans to introduce hybrid technology into other Jeep models that offer all-wheel drive such as the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee, wonder not. Models like the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Jeep Wrangler will use an e-motor mounted between the internal combustion engine and the transmission.

We’ll keep you updated on more developments and future models as they emerge. In the meantime, head on down to our Bemidji, MN Chrysler dealership to shop for new models and expert service. We’re located at 755 Paul Bunyan Drive NW.
