This SUV comes to us for the next model year with plenty of design and functional upgrades that make it a joy to drive, no matter where you are or what the weather is like.
The first thing you may notice about the new 2019 Jeep Cherokee is the front grille. It’s been redesigned to mirror that of the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee complete with the seven iconic grille slots that we’ve come to know and love from the Jeep manufacturers. In conjunction with the front end, the rear gets a redesign as well. It now features a hands-free power liftgate which opens into a cargo area that includes three more cubic feet of space than the previous model.
As far as the engine and power are concerned, Jeep SUV fans will be happy to learn that a new 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine which makes 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque is available. Five total trim levels make up the options of the 2019 Jeep Cherokee which start with the 2019 Jeep Cherokee Latitude. Moving up from there you have the Latitude Plus, Limited, Overland, and the Trailhawk®. Overall, the vehicle is 150 pounds lighter than the previous model thanks to an aluminum body and composite liftgate.
The new exterior and increased power options aren’t the only changes that we’re excited about. The new infotainment system is a blast. The 2019 Jeep Cherokee is outfitted with the fourth-generation Uconnect® infotainment system which comes in either a 7- or 8.4-inch screen which includes pinch-and-zoom functions as well as Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto®.
