When a diesel version of the popular RAM 1500 pickup truck was announced, it was initially met with skepticism. After all, the idea of a diesel engine on one of the most popular pickups on the market sounded a bit far-fetched to some people, as they weren’t up to date on the capabilities of diesel fuel. Well, as is the case with some of the best ideas in modern history, the EcoDiesel dealt with the initial public skepticism and became a massive critical and commercial success.
By this point, the 2014 RAM 1500 EcoDiesel is doing a victory lap. The latest honor to add to its trophy case is the “Green Truck of the Year” award, given by the Green Car Journal. The award reflects the RAM commitment to making a product that combines the trademarked RAM power with a newfound sense of green design. The 2014 RAM 1500 was practically a shoo-in for the honor, as the truck has the only clean diesel engine in the light duty pickup truck segment. According to Ron Cogan, publisher of Green Car Journal, “the powerful and efficient EcoDiesel engine is the distinguishing characteristic of the truck’s personality.”
If you haven’t yet seen the 2014 RAM 1500 EcoDiesel at our Bemidji RAM dealership, you’re in for a treat. First off, the truck is available as a RAM 1500 Crew Cab and a RAM 1500 Quad Cab. International Falls and Bemidji drivers are always impressed by the diesel engine, which cranks out 420 pound-per-foot of torque and 240 horsepower while managing to give the driver 28 miles per gallon combined.
