For decades, FCA US LLC has been at the forefront of the minivan market, creating innovative and family-friendly vehicles like the Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country, both of which are cars that we carry here at Bemidji Chrysler Center. Over at the Detroit Auto Show last week, the automaker unveiled huge news that these two standard-bearers would soon be replaced by a new Chrysler Pacifica minivan, which looks to be a huge improvement over two already impressive minivans.
While the departure of the Grand Caravan and the Town & Country is certainly sad news, we’re already getting excited to see what the new Chrysler Pacifica has to offer. After all, FCA US LLC has grown into one of the world’s largest automakers not by resting on its laurels and releasing the same car year after year, but by consistently innovating and putting out new models and technologies. From what we know about this new Chrysler car, it will be the most stylish minivan to date, featuring slanted glass and grille shutters, an integrated rear spoiler, and other aerodynamic techniques. Also, 20-inch wheels can be had, and the total weight of the minivan is down from the Town & Country.
The other big news about the Pacifica is that it will feature a plug-in hybrid configuration. This will use the Pentastar 3.6-liter V6, as well as a battery that will let the driver go 30 miles on just battery power. Moving on to the cabin, the Pacifica will boast a blend of high-tech and modern soft sculpting that includes stitching, piano black accents, and touch gear that emulates high-end audio components.
