Here at Bemidji Chrysler Center, we wish diesel engines were more popular in the United States. Although they have a number of positive characteristics, such as torque, towing aptitude, and fuel economy, they just haven’t quite caught on here like they have in Europe. However, FCA US LLC is starting to change the perception of diesel with its EcoDiesel engine, which can now be found on the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Bemidji drivers have already gotten a taste of the EcoDiesel engine on the RAM 1500, but now they can experience a great combination of the off-road power of the Grand Cherokee with the efficiency of the EcoDiesel.

First and foremost, the EcoDiesel is notable for its impressive fuel economy figures. On the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee, the EcoDiesel is good for 21 miles per gallon in the city, 28 on the highway, and 24 combined, all of which eclipse the numbers on the gasoline-powered SUVs. In a test drive for Cars.com, an automotive writer noted that the Grand Cherokee returned an impressive 28.62 miles per gallon in mostly highway driving, meaning that the actual numbers could be even higher than the estimates.

If you’re concerned about a loss of power that comes with the EcoDiesel, don’t be, because the turbodiesel 3.0-liter V6 engine still manages to crank out 240 horsepower and 420 pound-per-foot of torque. This high torque number means the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee EcoDiesel is just as capable at climbing rocks, towing heavy loads through ditches, and carrying your boat to your campsite as the gasoline-powered version.

Look for the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee EcoDiesel right here at Bemidji Chrysler Center! We look forward to serving you!
