2017-Jeep-Wrangler-Rubicon (1235x660)

1976 was a lucky year for fans of the iconic Jeep® Wrangler. The Jeep CJ-7 was introduced to the world by the American Motor Company and the look of the modern day 2017 Jeep Wrangler was born. The seventh generation of the original Jeep vehicle, the CJ-7 displayed major design changes. Squared off door openings replaced the more familiar rounded openings and a longer wheelbase allowed for an automatic transmission.

AMC’s Jeep CJ-7 became so popular that the previous CJ-5 model was discontinued in 1983. The CJ-7 line received even more attention in 1982 when the Laredo package was offered. A normal Laredo option consisted of a chrome grille, wheels, bumpers, hood emblem and trim. Laredo continues to be an indication of an upper-middle trim on many Jeep models to this day, although the CJ-7 Laredo was only available until 1986. The Jeep Wrangler was then introduced, drawing heavily on the iconic style of earlier models while ushering in a new era of Jeep brand vehicles.

The Chrysler Corporation purchased the Jeep brand from AMC in 1987. Today, the brand is owned by FCA US LLC and is part of a large family of automobile brands including Chrysler, Dodge, and RAM. Here at Bemidji Chrysler Center, we are a proud Jeep dealer near International Falls, MN.

The current Jeep Wrangler is built on the successful models of the past and offers even more features that complement both highway driving and adventures that may be off the beaten path. In fact, the Jeep Wrangler is certified with a Jeep Trail Rated Badge and can confidently manage multiple off-road conditions.
